MIKAYLA JOINS QUIXOTE GROUP AS AN INTERN

Hello! My name is Mikayla Browne and I am the fall 2017 intern at Quixote Group. I am a senior at High Point University, majoring in human relations with a minor in marketing. I was born in Boston, Mass., and raised in Concord, N.C., but would love to make my way back up north soon.

I became a marketing minor after taking an Intro PR and Marketing course my sophomore year. I enjoyed the class so much that I decided to take a couple more marketing classes and by the end of my sophomore year, I had declared it as my minor. Some of the reasons I like PR and marketing so much is because there is always something new to work on and every day is different. I would consider myself a workaholic because I love being busy and having a to-do list that’s a mile long, which is why the PR and marketing world is a perfect fit for me.

PR Professionals: [Tired] Energizer Bunnies

Multitasker? You’re hired. It is evident that PR professionals are the champions of multitasking. In a constantly evolving industry, PR professionals are invariably thinking about enhancing their client’s brand. How can I boost their media relations?  What pitch is going to entice the media? Minute after minute, second after second, PR professionals are energizer bunnies, quickly thinking outside the box and juggling many projects… all at once.

But, how many times do you only focus on ONE task? Cue the crickets. I know; it’s easy to be consumed with a million different tasks, and not prioritize one task over another. According to Gloria Mark, professor of informatics at the University of California–Irvine, “We’re in this environment in the workplace where it’s a structure that’s set up by the technology that makes it really difficult for people to monotask.”

Earworms and Engagement: How to Reach your Audience and Drive Action

We all know the jingles and phrases that get stuck in our heads for days after hearing them. Anyone remember that narwhale commercial from Sprint a few years ago? Here’s a reminder if you missed it; you’re welcome.

Many brands are still resorting to “earworm” tactics in an effort to give their message staying power. But how often do you remember the point, or call to action? I spent at least five minutes searching for “the narwhale ad” before I sat down to put this together. I had no memory of who or what the ad was actually for.

Lauren Joins Quixote Group As An Intern

Hello! My name is Lauren Abbott and I am the Spring 2017 intern at Quixote Group. I am a junior at High Point University studying Strategic Communication and Marketing. I like to consider myself a “Southern Bostonian,” for I have a southern mentality, but a Boston heart. Attending a university far from home has been quite the adventure!

My passion for public relations was ignited by my entrepreneurial spirit. Believe it or not, promoting a family icecream business can generate a passion for branding. I am a problem solver who strives to connect people through stories. I enjoy fostering authentic relationships with clients and creating unique campaigns. During my first week here, I had the opportunity to attend a brainstorming session with a client. The session was buzzing with creative energy and innovative ideas- this is the perfect place for a PR aficionado!

In my spare time, you can find me running outside on a sunny day, teaching indoor cycling, or lounging on the beach. I am a fitness enthusiast who enjoys pushing others to reach their personal wellness goals. I thrive in team atmospheres; whether it is leading a cycling class or collaborating with other students in school, I enjoy working with others.

I am excited to learn more from the knowledgeable and visionary professionals here at Quixote Group in the months to come!

Hello! My name is Paige Foster and I am the fall 2016 intern at Quixote Group. I am currently working for my associate’s in arts at Randolph Community College where I plan to transfer to University of North Carolina at Greensboro for my bachelor’s degree in communication. I am from a small town in Virginia and would love to eventually move to a big city. I enjoy hiking, the beach, shopping and hanging out with friends.

In my spare time, you will find me shopping in some capacity. I am always stalking the internet or my email for deals; I love a good coupon. I am also always at Target, I could probably be of more assistance to a fellow shopper than a Target employee would be. When I’m not shopping, I am usually hanging out with my friends. We like to try the new breweries in town, catch a movie or go to a football game. I also love to go explore new places. I like to visit new towns and see new sites. I would love to travel the world one day.

The Formula for an Effective Consumer and Brand Relationship

Well-known physical formula

As I continue to dive into the world of advertising, branding and public relations, I have found myself continually analyzing the motives behind choices that consumers make. What makes us support certain brands? What turns us away from other brands? To further investigate the answers to these, and so many other questions, I began by thinking about my relationship with the brands that I shop from; where do I fit into this whole consumer and brand equation?
